Sabrimala : Curious case of Feminism & Propaganda.

In order to demonize sanatana dharma, anti Hindu elements always look out for opportunities to malign dharma. Be it the celebration of a festival or a Hindu religious institution, these elements always have their 2 cents to drop which no one ever asks for.

This article is based on the issue of sabarimala temple and it will also debunk the made up ‘gender inequality’ factor which the feminists spoke about during the Sabarimala protests.

The sabarimala temple is a house of faith for Hindus. It had its own set of rules which were to be followed in order to seek darshan. However, women were restricted from entering the temple premises due to their gynaecological health. This created a havoc which lead to an unwanted “intellectual” turn. Equating the restriction of the entry of women to women rights, is purely a display of one’s propaganda and stupidity. The government once again chose to meddle with our religious affairs and the power was granted to the anti Hindu elements. The religious denomination was now refused.

Moreover, the denial of entrance of women in the temple of Lord Ayappa was not due to any sort of discrimination but because of the unique reproductive capabilities of a woman. Not all exclusion or refusal is discrimination. Women who were sane enough took a stand against the decision of allowing women to enter the temple while opportunists once again hijacked the issue and provided the mass, a distorted version of dharma. To spread propaganda, the health safety factor was neglected by the feminists and discrimination based on misogyny, as a made up factor- was introduced to the people.

While one might talk about the “discrimination” propaganda and think that it’s only women who were subjected to his, let me bring to your notice, the temples which have imposed restrictions on the movement of men.

1. Chakkulathuvaku temple.

This temple is dedicated to maa Durga and is located on the alluring banks of river pamba. The male priest has to wash the feet of the women who have fasted for 10 days, on the day of Dhanu.

2. Attukal Bhagvathy temple, Kerala.

This is a temple which refers to itself as a ‘woman dominated’ temple and bars the enterance of men.

3. Maya temple, Bihar.

This temple follows a strict set of rules which is applicable to both, the women as well as the male priests. It is believed that, for a particular time, the temple only allows women to enter as the Devi ji presiding there is believed to be menstruating.

4. Kamakhya temple, Assam.

Men too, are restrained from entering the premises for a specific duration. The goddess is believed to be menstruating and to observe privacy, only women are allowed to enter the temple.

5. Brahmaji temple, Rajasthan.

This temple does not allow married males to enter or worship the deities.

6. ma Linga Bhairav temple, coimbatore.

It’s only the women who are allowed to enter the inner sanctum of the temple. Women are allowed to perform the rituals even while menstruating.

7. Kumari Amman temple, Kanyakumari.

This temple is stern on not letting men enter the premises. This place is one among the 52 shaktipeeths. Only celibate men are allowed till the gate of the temple while the married ones are strictly restricted from even setting their foot in the temple.

Restriction of women in the sabarimala is only due to the ‘chaitanya’ of the temple as the energy of the temple would have negative effects on the gynaecological health of women. This could lead to infertility too. Hence, the premises and restrictions are arranged in a way that the health of women is taken intro consideration. However, girls below 10 or above the age of 50 are allowed in the temple as they have either crossed the age of menstruation or still haven’t hit it. To sum it up, thinking about the welfare of women is no discrimination and the people need to stop getting influenced by the false discrimination factor.

Those coming from a rational pov are free to challenge the believers by have no authority to poke their nose in the temple affairs. You don’t indulge into something you don’t believe in, it’s simple. The ignorant ones who deny the exposure to the Ayurveda perspective needn’t be taken into consideration.

One doesn’t need to justify his/her faith to a non believer but to eliminate the ignorance, one needs to simplify or break down the reason or the true motive behind the prevailing issue. “Gyaan baatne se badhta hai.”
